The Florida Department of Transportation Maintenance of Traffic Intermediate 16 Hour and MOT Intermediate 8 Hour Refresher Training Courses are now available at a substantial savings to the Florida Association of Counties Trust Membership:

· Maintenance of Traffic Intermediate (MOT) Two-Day Course Cost starting as low as $105.00 per person! *
· Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Refresher Course Cost starting as low as $65.00 per person! *

* This estimated cost per person is based on a guaranteed minimum of 15 students attending per class.

Who Should Attend?
All personnel working on the roadways should attend these sessions, including roadway maintenance workers, traffic device installation/maintenance personnel, and street/sidewalk maintenance personnel. All other persons who have an occasion to work on or near roadways will benefit from this training, including personnel in the following departments: Utilities, Public Works, Sewer, Bridge, Park and Recreation and Road-side Landscaping. This training is designed to ensure every person involved with Work Zone Traffic Control understands the standards with regard to planning, designing, supervising, implementing and maintaining Work Zone Traffic Control.

MOT Intermediate

Duration: 16 hours

Overview:
To ensure every person involved with work zone traffic control understands the standards with regard to planning, designing, supervising, implementing, and maintaining work zone traffic control. Course curriculum covers Maintenance of Traffic procedures and principles to include classroom training, problem solving and a written test. MOT certification wallet cards, which are valid for four [4] years from the date of the exam, will be issued to individuals who successfully complete this course.

Learning Objectives:
· Explain the five areas of a work zone and the traffic control devices used in each;
· Understand the requirements for national and state of Florida standards for work zone traffic safety;
· Interpret and apply the Roadway and Traffic Design Standards (RTDS) typical applications to varying work zone situations; and
· Inspect the placement and/or operational function of work zone traffic control devices as defined by RTDS.

Participant Profile:
All work zone workers. MOT Wallet Certification Cards are issued to those successfully completing the MOT Intermediate Course. Certification lasts for four (4) years. The 8 Hour MOT Refresher Course is recommended every four years thereafter for wallet cardholders to re-certify. MOT Wallet Certification Cards will be issued to those successfully completing, as well. Re-Certification lasts for four (4) years.


MOT Intermediate Training Refresher (8 Hour)

Duration: 8 hours

Pre-Requisite: This course is designed for persons who have successfully completed training in the 16 Hour Maintenance of Traffic Intermediate Course and currently hold a valid and verifiable wallet card, who are near their re-certification due date.

Overview: This course consists of a review of Maintenance of Traffic procedures and principles to include classroom training, problem solving and a written test.

Learning Objectives: To ensure course participants are knowledgeable of Maintenance of Traffic Intermediate procedures and principles. MOT re-certification wallet cards will be issued to those successfully completing this course.

Participant Profile:

Persons who-
(1) have successfully completed the 16 Hour Maintenance of Traffic Intermediate Course,
(2) hold a current valid and verifiable wallet card, and
(3) are near their re-certification due date.

Note: Refresher course must be successfully completed before certification expiration as listed on wallet card.


If you would like to hold the Maintenance of Traffic Intermediate 16 Hour Course or the Maintenance of Traffic Intermediate 8 Hour Refresher Course at your County, contact Anita Wick. There is a minimum of 15 persons required in order to schedule a class. Should your County not have the minimum number of attendees required to schedule a class, we can accommodate you by scheduling a regional session at your location and opening up the class to other public entities in the area.
